Mysore City

Mysore city has a long history and has been around as an important place for quite a long time. I will write about the ancient and mediaeval history in my future blogs here. It is sufficient to say, Mysore has been under the influence of Vijayanagar Empire, Hoysala Rulers, Wodeyars, Tippu Sultan and British before India achieved independence in 1947. After independence, Rulers of Mysore in 1947 decided to join Indian republic. 

The influence of various empires can be seen in Mysore even today in her architecture. 

Today Mysore is considered the cultural capital of the southern state of Karnataka. It is home to most beautiful modern palaces, close to such destinations like Coorg, Ooty, wonderful mediaeval temples like Belur and Halebidu.
